The Churches for Streets of Hope operates a 16-bed shelter for men every cold weather season,
at Boulevard Christian Church and is open from 6:00pm to 7:30am
(unless inclement weather hours are in effect).
This shelter not only provides warm food and shelter to our homeless neighbors,
but also act as a starting point for case management into employment, housing,
and other needs to get out of homelessness.
Each evening the shelter is open, one of more than 35 meal teams from churches,
work groups, friends, and neighbors serves a meal.
Back River UMC is proud to be one of the meal teams that looks forward to providing
a hot meal to the men.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer or would like more information about our
meal team is asked to contact our Street of Hope Coordinator Vicki Hynes.
